Vatican City: Traveller's Paradise

Travelling to a distant place or a different country maybe invigorating and gruelling, stimulating and nerve-racking one in all, and the sheer idea of travelling to a distant place with your friends or family members brings a rush of adrenaline to your blood. What if you are given a chance to travel to any place in the world and enjoy a rejuvenating vacation with your friends or family members? Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?

The world is so full of places we want to visit and explore; given a chance we won’t leave even a single destination. My choice of a perfect (I say “perfetto”) place for a happy vacation will be the Vatican City. The smallest country in the world as it is known is a fortress within the city of Rome.

Now why Vatican City? Isn’t it a place of Christian worship?  Well, the answer is yes it is a place (the highest in value) for Christian worship, However it is not confined to just the Pope, Churches and pilgrimage for Catholics all over the world, the place is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world because of the unlimited and magnificent masterpieces of Art it adorns.  Vatican City is known for its rich Arts history dating back to the time of Michelangelo and Bernini.  Some of the most famous pieces of renaissance arts like the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo and the Saint. Peter’s Basilica is the major tourist attraction. Legends have it that faith for Christianity comes by itself when a person is immersed in the Art flaunted in the Vatican City.

The Vatican not only holds the Artworks but is also considered a heaven for history academics from all over the world. The famous Vatican Library and the entire cluster of Vatican museums are of significant importance in the world history with documents and artworks dating back to 1400 century.

Sistine Chapel
Important Places to Visit in Vatican City:
Sistine  Chapel  :  considered the most famous and magnificent of all Chapels, Sistine Chapel is renowned mainly for its intricate decor and artwork by famous renaissance artists and for the Papal conclave it holds. The interior of the Chapel is adorned with beautiful engravings and decorative details, whereas the exteriors are unadorned with the same. One simply gazes mesmerizingly at the breathtaking work of art Michelangelo did in the interior roof and walls. If you are art enthusiast and love photography, than this place is a must visit place for you.
St. Peter's Basilica

St. Peter’s Basilica :  Vatican is known
for its churches and the most famous of them all is the St. Peter’s Basilica. This late renaissance church was mainly designed by Bernini, Michelangelo, Bramante and Maderno. The interiors of St. Peter’s Basilica are intricately decorated with mesmerizing artworks by its
architects and the dimension is very vast as compared to other churches in the world. Like a famous author once said while progressing towards the Basilica one finds they themselves are shrinking, true of course they are dwarfed by the magnificent size of the building and everything inside is just overwhelming.

The  Vatican  Library :  One of the oldest libraries in the world, the Vatican library is one place where you simply can’t maintain silence. Of course with its almost infinitive treasure of world’s oldest and rarest documents and the ambience inside will simply make you gasp in amazement. The library today holds more than 1.1 million printed books and over 75,000 manuscripts.

Vatican is a heaven for travellers and there are certain rules travellers must abide to while visiting this enclave. People have to cover themselves up to the knees (both men and women) only then they are allowed to enter the fortress. The pontifical Swiss guards are the main law vigilantes of the Vatican, one should not go on their uniform that is rather funny and colourful, these guards detain anybody and everybody who violates the Papal law or the Vatican Law.

Wow. A very informative article. What was shocking to me was that you can't wear a lot of colorful clothes there. Kinda ruins my vacation plans.

I personally would like a review about Ireland once. It tops on my list for travel. The hills, the sea cliffs.. All makes for a very romantic aura for me.
